Travel Waiver Policy due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak

At SriLankan Airlines, we understand that your travel plans may have gotten delayed or changed due to the prevailing COVID-19 situation.

Therefore, we have prepared a flexible Travel Waiver Policy to put your mind at ease.

If you have booked with us through a Travel Agent or a third party, you may contact the same Agent or party for further assistance with your bookings.

This Waiver Policy applies to all passengers who have purchased their tickets on SriLankan Airlines (ticket numbers starting from 603) on or before 31st July 2020 for travel between 26th January 2020 to 31st December 2020, who now wish to alter their travel plans due to flight cancellations/flight service restrictions/specific country regulations and other related issues due to COVID-19..

This Travel Waiver Policy supersedes previous policies issued to date pertaining to COVID-19

Flexibility to change your travel plans

If you have already booked to travel up to 31st December 2020, you can choose one of the following options:

  1. Change your travel date

If you wish to make a date change, although the flight is not cancelled;

  • The Airline shall permit changes (flight/date/routing) without charging any change fees for travel up to 31st December 2020 on SriLankan Airlines operated flights.
  • The passenger should bear the difference in the airfare or applicable taxes, if any.
  • This is applicable on all tickets irrespective of the routing and place of issue. 
  • Promotional restricted tickets are eligible for change upon payment of the relevant airfare difference.

If you wish to make a date change due to flight cancellations between 26th January and 31st August 2020;

  • The Airline shall permit changes (flight/date) free of charge for travel up to 15th November 2020 on SriLankan Airlines operated flights to the original destination.
  • For changes to travel beyond 15th November 2020, the Airline shall permit changes (flight/date/routing) without charging any change fees, however, the passenger should bear the difference in the airfare or applicable taxes, if any.
  • This is applicable on all tickets irrespective of the routing and place of issue.  

For tickets issued through www.srilankan.com, please write to bookings@srilankan.com or contact via SriLankan Airlines Mobile Application. You may also contact our 24-hour Global Contact Center or contact the nearest SriLankan Airlines Ticket office for assistance. Else, please contact your original source of booking.

       2. Exchange for a travel voucher

You can now exchange your ticket for a travel voucher valid for a period of one year from the date of issue and use it for your future travel with SriLankan Airlines.

  • If the ticket is fully unused, the full equivalent amount will be issued on a non- refundable voucher valid for travel within one year from the date of the voucher issuance.
  • If the ticket is partially used, the unutilized amount of your ticket will be reissued on a non-refundable travel voucher valid for one year from the date of voucher issuance.
  • The Airline will not be charging any change/reissue fees for the issuance of the voucher.
  • Travel vouchers are issued per passenger, under the same name of the passenger on the air ticket.
  • At the expiry of the initial validity term of the voucher any remaining value may be extended for a further one-year period.
  • This voucher is transferable subject to special terms and conditions.
  • Vouchers cannot be issued in exchange of any tickets issued for events/packages and frequent flyer redemptions.

For tickets issued through www.srilankan.com  you can now email your details requesting to issue a voucher to bookings@srilankan.com

For tickets purchased through direct SriLankan Airlines offices across the network, a voucher shall be issued from any SriLankan Airline’s office.

For tickets purchased through Travel agents, you may contact the travel agents/Online booking portals if you wish to obtain this voucher.

Refund your ticket

 If you wish to refund, although the flight is not cancelled;

  • Refund will be worked out based on the refund conditions on your ticket
  • Applicable fare rules shall apply.

If you wish to refund due to flight cancellations between 26th January and 31st August 2020;

  • All refund charges and applicable penalties will be waived off.

– Promotional restricted tickets are eligible for a refund.

You may also contact our 24-hour Global Contact Center or contact the nearest SriLankan Airlines Ticket office for assistance. Else, please contact your original source of booking.

IMPORTANT

If you do not intend to travel, kindly cancel your reservation at your earliest convenience as No Show charges may apply for reservations that are not cancelled.

All the dates mentioned above may be revised due to the evolving situation pertaining to COVID -19.

This policy shall be valid till 31st December 2020 for tickets that require any changes.
