Sri Dalada Maligawa or the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic is a Buddhist temple in the city of Kandy, Sri Lanka. It is located in the royal palace complex of the former Kingdom of Kandy, which houses the relic of the tooth of the Buddha. Since ancient times, the relic has played an important role in local politics because it is believed that whoever holds the relic holds the governance of the country. Due to the temple, Kandy was chosen as the last capital of the Sri Lankan kings and is a World Heritage Site.There are so many ancient architecture structures and buildings. The museum specially will give you a heartfelt experience such as the historical records, list of Kandyan Kings and the portraits etc. Further, consists of the religious items such as caskets, statues and pieces of jewellery etc, which give us an overall idea about how things were handled and performed by royals, while the visitors could learn about Buddhist rituals and the history of Sri Lanka. One could experience the whole ancient heritage and also the fascinating flower-giving ceremony. Visitors to the temple have the chance to buy beautiful flowers in the street near the Temple of Tooth Relic, the prices of flowers goes from 100LKR upwards. As the temple is a sacred place, the visitors to the temple should must take off their shoes and store them and have their shoulders and knees covered. Men are required to wear long pants, and women must cover their shoulders and wear long, loose pants or skirts.
