St Michael’s Mount: A ‘beanstalk’ lives underwater

Social Share

St Michael’s Mount is a tidal island in Mount’s Bay, Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. The island is a civil parish and is linked to the town of Marazion by a man-made causeway of granite setts, passable between mid-tide and low water.

This small unassuming island has a rich history ranging from famous religious visions to strategic wartime capture. It’s also the source of the fairy-tale ‘Jack the Giant Killer’, as it was rumored a giant lived on the island before a plucky local named Jack slew him.
