
Sri Lanka has welcomed 3,366 tourists in February 2021 led by Kazakhstan up from 1,682 after the Indian Ocean island re-opened its borders to tourists under health guidelines and multiple Coronavirus tests.
In February 2020 Sri Lanka received 207,507 tourists before airports were shut in March.
Sri Lanka had received 1,231 tourists from Kazakhstan, 845 from Ukraine, 245 from Germany and 117 from China in February, data from the state tourism promotion office showed.
There were 70 tourists from India and the UK, 75 from the US, 71 from Canada and 44 from Belarus.
Sri Lanka had received 5,048 tourists so far this year, down from 435,941 in 2020.
Sri Lanka is allowing tourists to come under pre-flight PCR tests and also post-flight tests.
Only a handful of tourists had tested positive so far.
