Qatar Airways COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Latest Updates

Social Share

The safety, security and good health of our passengers and employees is our highest priority.

Qatar Airways is working closely with global and national authorities to implement the latest advice and guidance on COVID-19 (coronavirus) and operate our services accordingly.

Like all airlines around the world, we have to balance the needs of our millions of passengers with the operational challenges we face due to entry restrictions imposed by a number of countries.

To learn more about steps being taken by Qatar Airways at this time and to ‘Travel with confidence’, If you are trying to reach our call centres, we hugely appreciate your patience and we will get back to you as soon as possible. We are working through the backlog of passenger requests. A combination of unprecedented call volumes and the closure of call centres due to global government restrictions is limiting our capacity to respond as efficiently as usual. We know it can be frustrating but please bear with us.

Service alterations

Passengers from all destinations served by Qatar Airways can still travel with the airline and transit through Hamad International Airport, the third best airport in the world according to SKYTRAX, subject to entry restrictions at their final destination.

However, because of the operational challenges faced due to Covid-19 (coronavirus), we have altered or cancelled some of our services.

If you are affected, you can re-book your ticket to alternative dates or destinations or opt to receive a voucher for future travel, equivalent to the value of your ticket plus an additional 10% value, excluding statutory taxes. Alternatively, you can opt to exchange your ticket for Qatar Airways Privilege Club Qmiles, or get a refund. This policy applies to all tickets issued anytime until 31 December 2020, for travel on or before the same date. Please note:

  • If you have booked your ticket though a travel agent, please contact your travel agent to amend your booking, exchange your ticket for a future travel voucher, exchange your ticket for Qmiles or arrange for a refund
  • If you have booked with us directly, you can select your preferred option through our website and we will automatically process the request. You can also telephone any of our offices or contact centres

If your flight is operating normally and you have booked or are planning to book tickets for travel up to 31 December 2020, but you wish to change your travel plans, you can:

  • Alter your travel date free of charge.
  • Change your destination if it is within 5,000 miles of the original one.
  • Exchange your ticket for a future travel voucher valid for two years, or swap it for Qmiles to use however you like.

You will need to hold immigration approval to land at the final city in your itinerary that is operated by Qatar Airways, even if you are taking a connecting flight afterwards.

We encourage all passengers to see real-time Flight Status for the latest information. All passengers should ensure that their contact details are up to date on the ‘Manage Booking‘ page so we can let you know directly if your flight is affected.

Operational routes

We are still operating flights to many cities around the world including London, Paris, Frankfurt, and Sydney, helping thousands of passengers get home safely.

Please be advised that, due to the current operating context of entry restrictions imposed by governments to limit the spread of coronavirus, our schedules may change at short notice. Passengers are advised to check our real-time Flight Status page for the latest information.

In addition, a number of countries have issued restrictions on entry for overseas travellers. We provide some guidance on these restrictions below, but in many cases there are exceptions and exemptions, and policies may change at short notice. Therefore, we strongly recommend all passengers check the information published by the Government of their destination country before travelling and visit: International Air Transport Association (IATA) Travel Centre.

Commercial Policy for all tickets

Qatar Airways recognises that some passengers may wish to alter their existing travel plans in light of COVID-19 (coronavirus). We have altered our commercial policy accordingly in order to provide maximum flexibility and peace of mind to our customers.

Passengers travelling with Qatar Airways up to 31 December 2020 can now change their travel plans free of charge by altering their booking dates or opting to receive a travel voucher up to three days prior to departure.

Fees for booking alterations will be waived if reservations are changed at least three days before departure. Fare differences may apply.  The travel voucher can be used for future travel with Qatar Airways, valid for one year from its issuance date. It will be equal to the value of their unutilised ticket – plus an additional 10%, excluding statutory taxes.

Cancellation penalties will be waived for customers who opt to receive a travel voucher for future travel with Qatar Airways.

This policy is valid for all Qatar Airways flights and those of its code-share and interline partners booked as published fares, either directly from or through travel agents.
