
The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau has revealed that nearly 10,000 tourists have visited the country since the opening of the country on January 21.
It is reported that 9,629 tourists from Kazakhstan, Germany, United Kingdom, Ukraine, Russia, India, China, Switzerland and Canada have arrived in the country since the opening of the country which was closed due to the COVID-19 global pandemic.
Discussion have commenced between Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga, various embassies and flight operators regarding attracting new airlines to Sri Lanka as well as increasing the number of flights operated to Sri Lanka.
Negotiations are underway to provide quarantine relief to tourists who have received both COVID vaccines and it is reported that steps will be taken to relax the quarantine rules for Sri Lankans visiting Sri Lanka.
